Oh okay, be pedantic. St Crispian's Day is in January and I have modified the words of the immortal bard somewhat. But I have been doing some research. This is an adventure in the planning which
makes the great voyages pale into insignificance.

2012 plans!
Lady H is coming to the U.K!
Now this is exciting! Battling the heat of early summer in the Med. Fighting the might of the River Rhone, followed by a more leisurely cruise through central France canals when bird song and scenic views will log our every mile. Then the Round The Island bun fight with 1,800 other boats, followed by a triumphant sail from Gosport to Gibraltar, and then a more gentle sail back to Sardinia via the Balaerics. This is REAL sailing!
Well, sailing and motoring really, but the more I research the more excited I get.
aka The St. Crispian Cruise
" By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth drink my wine;
It yearns me not if they my sailing garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires.
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
But they which hath no stomach to this voyage,
Let them depart this page; their passport shall be made,
And crowns for convoy put into their purse;
We would not sail in that one's company
That fears their fellowship to ride with us.
This voyage is call'd the Crispian Cruise.
They that outlives that day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this cruise is nam'd,
And rouse themselves at the name of Crispian.
They that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the memory feast their neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Crispian Cruise Day.'
Then will they strip their sleeve and show their scars,
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispian's Cruise.'
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But they'll remember, with advantages,
What feats they did that cruise.
Then shall our names,
Jack the Captain, Tim and Van,
Lizzy , ever at the helm, and those who doth join us
Be familiar in their mouth as household words-
And be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
This story shall the good one teach their child;
And the Crispian Day shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we happy band;
For you that day that cast off lines with me
Shall be my kin; be they ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle their condition;
And gentleones in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their adulthoods cheap whiles any speaks
That sailed with us upon the Crispian Cruise.
NOTE. We do not expect people to commit themselves so far ahead, but if you are interested in any of the above, then let us know. Those showing interest will then be approached in the order they showed interest in the New Year when plans are finalised.
LEG ONE - 23rd to 30th April 2012 - VACANCIES
LEG TWO - THE FRENCH CANALS 1st May to 16th June
LEG THREE - 24th June to 1st July 2012
LEG FOUR - 5th to 19th July 2012
(All or part 30 Euros per person per night + shared food expenses )
Rather than tie myself down to specific places to be on specific dates, I have altered the Canal Schedule. Basically, if you would like to join us anytime between the 1st May and the 16th June for a weekend, a long weekend or even longer, simply drop us a line. Most of the places we will be in or near are fed by high speed trains from Paris so getting to us should be no problem. (all at 35 Euros per person per night)
PLEASE NOTE. I am provisionally fully booked from the 9th to the 16th June.
So what exactly are you letting yourself in for if you do any of the following five legs of the 2012 St. Crispian Cruise on Lady H?
The itinerary formulated so far is as follows:
(Final exact dates will be worked out when we know the 2012 flight schedules but should only vary from the following by a day or so.)
NOTE:- Hopefully we have built in sufficient leeway for either contrary winds and/or additional stop overs.
Gosport to Gibraltar either without scheduled stops or a maximum of two stops. About 1,400 miles.
This is now mainly down wind or beam wind sailing and a great chance to get some miles and night passages in as well as take a taste of a little Atlantic sailing.
500 Euros per person.
LEG FIVE - 20th July to 3rd August 2012
Gibraltar to Sardinia. 500 Euros per person. About 1,000 miles This is also a down wind or beam sailing passage. Stopping off in the Balaerics.
