Many of our guests have expressed an interest in learning to sail, some even had previous sailing experience and wished to learn more. In most cases it was no more than a desire to help and learn a little as part of their holiday. Now, however, we can teach you as much as you wish using our own system which is based on the RYA syllabus but including items we feel are not covered sufficiently by the RYA.
'I have never sailed but would like to give it a go.'
'I have sailed as a passenger and would now like to learn to be a competent crew.'
The best thing you could do is book a weekend break or even a week's holiday with us and give it a go.
NOTE:- THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT TO DO THE RYA COURSES IN SEQUENCE STARTING WITH COMPETENT CREW AND WORKING YOUR WAY UP. THE ONLY THING THAT MAKES A GOOD SAILOR IS MILES LOGGED AND THE PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE GAINED EN ROUTE.
Why not sign up for a week on Lady H and we will teach you how to be a productive crew member.
'I have sailed a little as crew but had to be told what to do. I would now like to learn more.'

Tim, thanks so much for your patience, kindness and for sharing your wealth of knowledge of not just sailing but in all aspects of life. As a sailing novice I have learnt so much in the past 9 days I can't even begin to transcribe ...... in all aspects of life I have learnt that one should not pay more than 97 cents for drinkable wine, that if no one is in the forest then a falling tree does NOT make a sound and that there are 3 types of wind in Sardinia - too much, not enough and the wrong dirtection. Thanks for teaching me the beginnings of my new life in sailing, Tim. Cheers. - Nicole (did 350 miles in 9 days aboard Lady H. Last heard of heading for South Africa and a job with a yacht delivery company.)
Being my first sailing experience, I was naturally nervous about what I had let myself in for. The last two days of my time on board was 32 hours sailing out of 48, battling Force 7 seas with just Tim and I sharing watches, - but with the constant guidance of Tim, and the beautiful open sea firing my adventurous nature we managed and I learnt a lot within my time. Recommended to anyone. Tim is a great captain and a comfortable companion. - Carl (did 426 miles in 15 days aboard Lady H)
What they said;-
Timmy Baby! Thank you for a wonderful week and a half. We've had a brilliant time and it has been a very special way to start our new adventure. Sorry about my sea sickness. Let's hope it gets better. We've had lots of fun and I'm now a navigating extrordinair. (It's a chart, not a map!) Hope to see you again in the future. We'll let you know how our adventure goes. Sarah and Ben. (They sailed on Lady H along the Cote d'Azur in April and were last heard of working on a yacht in Antibes.)
